Maryland Online Principles & Practice FAQ

  • What is the cost of the online class? $243.00
  • Does the cost include books? No books are not required for the class but are available at additional cost if needed by students. Contact Long and Foster Institute of Real Estate at 410-561-8380 or email catherine.schaeffer@longandfoster.com to purchase books.
  • Are there any prerequisites for the online class?We need a copy of your High School Diploma, GED or College Diploma along with the online application faxed to our office at 410-252-8588 before you can begin the class.
  • How long do I have to complete the class? 90 days from the date of purchase to complete each unit and the online final and a live proctored final at one of our Long and Foster Regional Training Centers. No extensions will be granted. If not completed by 90 days, students will need to pay and retake the entire class. No extensions will be granted and no exceptions.
  • How many exams do I have to take? The State requires 3 exams plus each unit has an exam that must be passed.
    1. Complete all units and the exam for each unit.
    2. The online Final Exam
    3. A live proctored Final Exam at one of our Regional Training Centers by appointment with Catherine Schaeffer at catherine.schaeffer@longandfoster.com
    4. Then the State Licensing Exam offered by PSI
  • Do I need to spend the full 60 hours in the class or can I finish in less time? You must complete the minimum required minutes per module. The State requires all students to complete the full 60 hour requirements (3,600 minutes) to go on to the Online Final Exam. The school can see how many hours you have completed and will not allow you to take the Final Exams until you have completed the required time.
  • Can I access the class at any time?Yes, the class is available at any time 24 hours per day 7 days per week. It fits your schedule.
  • What do I do if I know I cannot complete by the 90 days?You can request a refund which will be based on the number of units completed in relationship to the total number of modules in the class. No extensions will be granted. To request a refund contact catherine.schaeffer@longandfoster.com.
  • Can I combine the online and the live classroom class for the $243. Fee? No, the fee only covers the online class. If you feel the online class is not right for you we can refund the money for the portion you have not completed and then you can pay for the live classroom class.
  • Is the class taught by an instructor? No, the class is an online self study class. For question regarding the content, you will be assigned an instructor who will be available to respond to questions within 48 hours.
